Artelier were thrilled to be involved in Knowsley Chamber’s Youth Chamber event at All Saints Catholic High School in Liverpool last week.
The event consisted of two sessions of career roundtables with both Year 9 and 10 pupils. We, as mentors, rotated around the room every 5 minutes to sit with a different table of pupils for ‘career speed-dating’ style sessions. Other mentors taking part were a number of like-minded Knowsley Chamber business owners from a range of industries.
The pupils we spoke to asked thoughtful questions about business and work-life. Topics of discussion included our career journeys from school until now and what an average day or week looks like for us at our salon.
As a business and a salon, it’s important to us to support young people who may be interested in a career in hairdressing and to have real discussions with them about the different routes that can be taken and what the job really entails.
It is important that the next generation of potential hairdressers be able to get answers to questions they have about the industry and to explore the different options and career paths that are available to them. As you many know, we are huge advocates of apprenticeships in the hairdressing industry and so it is great to be able to discuss these with pupils interested in becoming hairdressers and the benefits apprenticeships bring.
We really enjoyed visiting All Saints Catholic High School and getting a chance to speak to the pupils about what we are so passionate about.
Thank you to Anthony McGuinness at All Saints High School for having us and for Knowsley Chamber for hosting this fabulous networking event as part of their amazing Knowsley Youth Chamber.
